Trip 1

Trip 1 Route

My first trip of the year took me east to the Mississippi river and beyond. The trip consisted of driving 2,000 miles in 4 days through Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, and Louisiana. My traveling companions for this journey were the fabulous Erickson sisters. Some trip highlights include:

  • The “old” Mississippi capitol being closed.
  • BBQ in Tuscaloosa, AL.
  • Private tour of the Alabama Capitol.
  • Driving in a hurricane.
  • Good Cajun food.
  • A night in New Orleans French Quarter (Pat O’Brien’s, CAFAY-DOO-MON-DAY?).
  • Watching the Cowboy/Vikings playoff game with a toothless waitress.
  • Endless speed traps in Louisiana.

It was a difficult drive because of the weather, but we managed to have some fun along the way. My apologies to the Erickson sisters for vetoing the request to drive 300 miles out of the way to see the world’s smallest police station. Maybe next time.
